We were delighted to host the Disabled Golf Association’s Sussex fixture last week. The weather showed off our course at its spring best as 19 players from across the south (including Devon!) enjoyed the course and our hospitality. A national association, it was created 5 years ago and now boast over 800 members with wide ranging disabilities.
As organisers Graeme and Sue told us ‘all types of disabilities and impairments enjoy playing together, golf being one sport that can be played fairly with the correct handicaps, out in the fresh air, on a glorious day with stunning views - what could be better than that!’
Congratulations to winner 19 year old Bobby David (autism/hypermobility/hearing) 33 points, 2nd ocb Graeme Mazur 32 points (brain injury) 3rd place 32 points was Alan Moulpied from just up the road in Seaford (amputee). Pictured are all of the competitors, the winners and Stan Bembenek the CEO.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back to the Dyke next year – it was great to hear that a couple of players enquired about membership at the club they were so impressed!
